This was supposed to be 9/11, part II.

Does anyone out there still think it's time to "cut and run"?

Like it or not, this country is at war. I'm not speaking of Iraq and Afghanistan. This country is at war with Islamic fascists. We are not at war with Islam. We are at war with Islamic fascists. There is a difference.

The latest terror plot should serve as a reminder to every American that we are not as safe as what we think we are. It has been nearly five years since 9/11, and I find it sad how complacent this country has become once again.

There is no negotiating here. The ultimate goal of Islamic fascists is a theocratic one-world government. If they win, you as an American will have two choices- convert to Islam, or die.

This threat is very real. And the terrorist came very close to succeeding in blowing up several airplanes en route from Britan to the United States. The death toll would have exceeded that of 9/11.

And it amazes me that so many people out there in the radical left want to tuck tail and run. What has history taught us about that?

Wake up America. Wake up Frank Murtha and Howard Dean. This shouldn't even be a political issue, but unfortunately the Dems are trying to use it as a tool to get back into power.

I'm personally very frightened by the fact that guys like Murtha are willing to sell out the future of this country and are willing to jeapordize my survival for their chance to gain control in the Senate.

Former Nobel Peace Prize winner would "love to kill George Bush".

According to this news story, Betty Williams, a former winner of the Nobel Peace Prize some thirty years ago, spoke in front of a group of children and told them those exact words. Her ire stems from the innocent civilian casualties, particulary children, during the conflicts in the Middle East.

What about the innocent children killed on September 11, 2001? What about the 10,000 children who lost one or both parents on that fateful day? What about the innocent children killed on buses in the Middle East by terrorist suicide bombers? Where was she when this was occuring?

What say you Betty Williams? Why didn't you speak out then or now to protect the children from terrorism? Nowhere to be found of course. Simply another excuse to hate the president and to push across a personal agenda.

So lets recap- it's okay to kill American children or their parents, but it's not okay when civilian casualties occur when the terrorists who want to do great harm to us literally hide among their women and children. Got it. Thanks for clarifying that for us Betty. No double standard there, no sir.

Why doesn't she speak out against the terrorists and demand to know why they INTENTIONALLY put children in harms way and literally hide among the women and children? The terrorists are smart. This is done very much so on purpose so as to wage a campaign of public dissent as well, knowing that any attack on them will result in civilian casualties. This is done so that people like Betty Williams will speak out and demonize the president or demonize America and sway public opinion against Bush and America and for the terrorists.

It is a war of public opinion, and sadly the terrorists are winning thanks in part to liberal wackos like Betty Williams who refuse to see both sides of the story. And I can't believe people out there are buying it.

The world really has gone insane.

In case you need yet another reason to hate the ACLU with a burning murderous passion…

I’ve followed for some time now the story of the Westboro Baptist Church. I hate to even talk about them here because the last thing they need is more exposure, but this rant is more about the ACLU…a.k.a. Another Criminal Left Uncharged…a.k.a. American Communist Leftist Union.

You may not know them by name, but the members of the Westboro Baptist Church are notorious for picketing at the funerals of dead American soldiers with signs that say “God Hates Fags”, “Thank God for 9/11”, and “Thank God for IEDs” while shouting at the grieving families. The address alone of their website should tell you enough you need to know about them - www.godhatesfags.com - People, I couldn’t make this up if I tried. Proceed with the link at your own risk.

Membership of the church, located in Topeka, Kansas, is only about 80 members, comprised mostly of people from one family and are not affiliated with any other Baptist church (for obvious reasons). The dogma of this church is that God hates homosexuals and all the tragedies that befall our country are punishment for our open stance on homosexuality. They are famous for showing up at funerals and disrupting them through their hate speech, regardless of the sexuality of the deceased.

In response, some states have proposed legislation banning such protests near funerals. This is the right thing to do, and precedent by the Supreme Court affirms this. In Chaplinsky v. New Hampshire, the Supreme Court ruled words that “inflict injury or tend to incite an immediate breach of the peace” are not protected forms of free speech. I love free speech as much as anyone (as witnessed by this blog), but with free speech comes responsibility. The right of free speech is not absolute. Child pornography is not considered free speech. Likewise, a person can’t yell “fire!” in a crowded theater because it is a breach of the peace.

However, the ACLU in all their glory, has decided that Westboro Baptist Church should be allowed to picket at a funeral while making their young children wear shirts imprinted with messages such as “God Hates Fags”, or a picture of an upside-down American flag with the message “Rest In Pieces”. This, according to the ACLU, is a worthy cause and this, according to the ACLU, is what our founding fathers had in mind when they wrote the Constitution.

This of course says nothing of the morality or even lack of human decency of these people to inflict as much pain as they can on others during their weakest moment. But behold…the ACLU supports this.

If anyone out there reading this has an ACLU membership card, shame on you. How can anyone with even the slightest ounce of human decency support this? And how can anyone with an ounce of intelligence support the ACLU? If anyone out there is insane enough to want to defend the ACLU on this one, I’ll give you room on my forum. I won’t entertain any debates on whether or not homosexuality or religion is right or wrong. That isn’t what this debate is about. I’m looking for someone who is actually willing to defend the ACLU on this.

And by the way, where is the ACLU when it comes to the Pendleton 8 (something which I’ll talk about later, and may be the most underreported news story of the year)? Nowhere to be found. But they will support this cause? Has the world gone insane?!?

The whole thing stinks. The ACLU is so far out of touch with the American public and out of touch with their original mission. If you are a member, your dollars are supporting this. Anyone who supports this hack organization should be ashamed.

An open letter-

Dear Americans rescued from Beirut,

I’m sorry that the food was not up to your standards onboard the ship. I’m sorry that the evacuation didn’t go as quickly as you might have hoped, but please understand that logistically, it is difficult to move that many people out of a country with such short notice, especially considering the only way out now is by boat. The United States government is working as quickly as they can to evacuate the rest.

I’m sorry that the government asked you to reimburse them the $100-200 cost of evacuating you from Lebanon. Had you left on your own or had to privately pay for your own airfare, I’m sure it would have cost much more than that amount, but the taxpayers of the United States will gladly foot the bill instead and not a one of us will complain.

But in between your sniveling, did a single one of you stop to thank any of the United States Marines who assisted in your evacuation? In 1983 my uncle, a United States Marine, was asked to escort the bodies (or what was left of) of Marines who were killed in a terrorist attack by Hezbollah, the very same terrorist group which the Israeli people are currently defending themselves from. I’m pretty sure none of these people said thank you to him. How could they? They were dead at the hands of a terrorist suicide bombing. Understandably so, I’m sure the families of those killed were too busy grieving to have worried about saying thank you.

You are leaving Beirut on your own power. In 1983, 220 Marines as well as 21 other servicemen left Beirut in a body bag at the hands of Hezbollah. My uncle was there to witness it, so you’ll forgive me for not having any sympathy because the evacuation was not up to your comfort standards. You’ll forgive me for being a little annoyed when you take the side of the enemy who would kill you in a heartbeat if given the chance simply because you are an American. And you’ll forgive me for being irate towards the media for working so hard at making those responsible for the evacuation look as if they are doing nothing to help the Americans.

So for you self-centered snivelers with nothing better to do than worry about yourselves, please stop whining to the media and shut your mouths for five seconds, unless you plan on opening it to say “Thank you. I’m proud to be an American today and I thank those who have sacrificed so much for my freedoms.”

Yours truly,
WWRD

Welcome to my blog. Attempting to convert the world one liberal at a time.

By the way, I welcome and appreciate all comments on my blog regardless of whether or not you agree and I’ll gladly post them for debate...so long as you can make your point intelligently. I greatly appreciate the fine art of civil debate. Love me. Hate me. Just don’t ever be silent.

That being said…my response to previous comments on my blog after my previous posting on Israel. Comments I am responding to are in italics.

But does violence work?

Yup…it seemed to stop Nazi Germany from taking over the world in WWII.

By contrast though...WWII could have just as easily not happened, but unfortunately was the result of a policy of appeasement. Had Hitler been stopped prior to the Munich Agreement in 1938, it would have been a whole different ballgame and the holocaust may never have occured. Instead concessions were made, the demands of the aggressor were met, and British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlin famously and prematurely declared “peace in our time”…which lasted only a few months until the Nazis invaded Czechoslovakia and Poland. Enter the holocaust.

The similarities between World War II and what is happening now are all too familiar. Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (yes...I had to look up the spelling) has openly suggested it is time for another holocaust (interesting considering he is also denies the holocaust ever happened to begin with, but I digress). Ahmadinejad is also hell bent on acquiring nuclear weapons, a prospect that should frighten every person on this planet.

This is the lesson history has to teach us. Appeasement of fascists does not work and we as a civilization cannot tolerate it happening again.

Secondly, Israel is rightfully defending themselves against violence. Hezbollah has a rap sheet a mile long of terrorist attacks not only against Israel, but against the free world. Israel has every right to defend itself against suicide bombers, rocket attacks into Israel, and the kidnapping and torture of their soldiers (again, where is the U.N. on this one?).

Consider this- if Canada was maliciously launching rockets into major U.S. cities without regard to civilian casualties, how long do you think the American population would tolerate it? Hezbollah has been doing just that to Israeli cities for many years.

How many times have two (or more) nations really tried to compromise for the better of the whole, rather than just for the benefit of the powerful?

Here is the problem though. We are not dealing with rational people. We are not dealing with freedom loving people. In fact, we are not even fighting a nation with established borders. We are fighting an ideology, and that ideology is fascist terrorism that spreads across many borders (mainly Syria and Iran but there are others).

There is no negotiating or compromise. According to these fascists, we are all infidels and they will settle for nothing less than wiping us off the earth. In spite of what the left likes to think, terrorism wasn’t invented as a response to the policies of Bush. It has been going on for a long time.

In theory, your premise would work if we were dealing with rational and sane people. But these are not rational people. These are the same people who blow up civilian busses in suicide bombings and crash airplanes into buildings because they believe 70 virgins are waiting for them on the other side (I’m guessing Paris Hilton won’t be in that group).

In fact, Israel did attempt to negotiate. The Israelis agreed in 2005 to pull out of the hotly contested Gaza strip. Israel has negotiated with the terrorists for prisoner exchanges as well. It still wasn’t enough and they continued to face the brunt of attacks. Pull a dog’s tail too many times, and eventually, he bites back.

Nazi fascists didn’t negotiate. Islamic fascists don’t negotiate either and will settle for nothing less than the destruction of anything that doesn’t represent their screwed up point of view on the world. I am not in favor of violence either, but I would rather we take them out first than sit by idly and wait for them to take us out. This is a fight for our right to exist.

They would kill any American or Israeli in a heartbeat if given the chance. We need to stop them first.

Yes, I am still a idealistic person. Go me.

Ahhh…I remember those days for me. I think it happened on a Tuesday.

I appreciate your comments and your point of view. But- and I mean this in the kindest of ways- liberals tend to live in an ideological fantasy world. Your vision is great and I wish it were that way. But unfortunately the real world is a completely different place, and it is my opinion that we must react accordingly.

Gotta love Ted Nugent...I didn't write the following but here is the link to the story-

Ted Nugent, a heavy metal guitar legend and devoted (bow) hunter, was being interviewed by a French journalist. Eventually, the conversation turned to his love of outdoor pursuits. The journalist asked, "What do you think the last thought is in the head of a deer before you shoot it? Is it, `Are you my friend?` or maybe `Are you the one who killed my brother?'"

Nugent replied, "They aren't capable of that kind of thinking. All they care about is, 'What am I going to eat next? Who am I going to screw next? and, Can I run fast enough to get away? They are very much like the French in that way."

I'd love to see the Nuge run for president. He'd never win...but how cool would it be to have a boisterous rock star as our president? In spite of the rock and roll image, he is actually a pretty smart guy. If an actor can become governor of California and then president, why not a rock star?

And yes...I was referring to Reagan when I said governor of California, for those of you younger than twenty.
Israel seems to get it. Why can’t the rest of the free world understand?

Hezbollah is a terrorist organization funded and supported by the governments of Syria and Iran. They have been responsible for such terrorist acts as-
-the 1983 bombing of U.S. military barracks in Beirut killing 241 American soldiers;
-the 1983 and 1984 bombings of the U.S. Embassy in Beirut;
-the 1985 hijacking of TWA Flight 847
-the 1994 bombing of a Jewish community center in Argentina;.
-dozens of kidnappings of American and British civilians in the 1980s and 1990s.

The folly of liberalism is that we can sit down and talk with terrorists and convince them to see our side. History will tell us otherwise. It doesn’t work. It hasn’t worked. Totalitarian regimes that sponsor terrorism are a direct threat those of us in the free world, and unfortunately, talking things out doesn't work with terrorists.

It should come as no surprise that France has condemned the Israeli attacks. At least we know what to expect from the French government and the impotent European Union. Once again, rather than standing up for freedom and for what is right in this world, France has chosen pacification.

Marge Simpson said it best- "We can stand here like the French, or we can do something about it." So very true Marge…so very true.

And speaking of impotence, where is the United Nations during all this? Why is it the UN cries foul on those held at Guantanamo Bay, but doesn’t utter a word when Israeli troops (or even American civilians for that matter) are held hostage? I’ll tell you where they are…Kofi Annan is too busy condemning the Israeli attacks as well to worry about the kidnapped Israeli soldiers or the rockets being launched into Israel by these terrorists.

Israel has a right to self-defense and has taken it upon themselves to rid the world of these terrorists. The free world will owe a debt of gratitude towards the Israelis for wiping out the Hezbollah.

One thing is for sure, the city of Reno is never short on characters.

There is a strange guy who stands on the corner at the intersection of Virginia Street and McCarran Avenue (probably the busiest intersection in Reno for you non-locals). I see him there often, wearing a sandwich-board a sign that says “Who Would Jesus Bomb?”

I’d love to trail him all day with a sign that reads “What Buildings Would Allah Crash Airplanes Into?”

You see, strange sign guy…we bomb because they want to do very bad things to us. If we stop them, then they can no longer do bad things to us. See how that works?

Unfortunately though…I work during the day for a living. I don’t have time to stand on street corners and somehow I doubt he would catch the irony. Sigh…

(Incidentally strange sign guy...if you happen to come across this blog please post a comment. I'd love to hear your take on things.)

(With advanced apologies to the Von Trapp family...)

"How Do You Solve a Problem Like Korea?"

He is the cult of personality
He rules like a bear
Kim Jong II will kick some ass
And a new hole he will tear
Underneath the playboy smile
Each day he perms his hair
I even hear he wrote six operas

He wants a nuclear warhead
The threat is very real
But his missiles fall in the ocean
“What a loser” Dubya will squeal
I hate to have to say it
But I very firmly feel
Kim Jong is out of shape and very flabby

I'd like to say a word in his behalf
Kim Jong II makes me laugh

How do you solve a problem like Korea?
How do you oust the man and throw him out?
How you you find a word that means Kim Jong II?
A wacko! A nut job! A North Korean clown!

Friday, July 07, 2006

Although North Korea's missile "test" failed, the major news outlets are now reporting that data collected has concluded that the missile was aimed at Hawaii. At this time it isn't clear what the intentions were, only that it was aimed at our 50th state.

So what? The missile failed, right? North Korea can't do any real harm and they will never succeed in launching a nuke towards the United States. So let’s be passive towards North Korea because they can do no real harm to us.

In 1993, Islamic terrorists set off a car bomb inside the World Trade Center. The intention was to destroy the foundation so as to cause the tower to topple into its twin, thus creating a domino effect and destroying both towers. Although the bomb killed six people, it failed in the attempt to cause widespread damage and failed to collapse both towers.

So what? The bomb failed, right? Islamic terrorists can't do any real harm and they will never succeed in bringing down the WTC. So let’s be passive towards the Islamic terrorists because they can do no real harm to us.

Those who do not remember history are destined to repeat it.

This is why we take out the problem before it ever becomes a problem. It's much easier to deal with a lunatic leader without nukes than it is to deal with a lunatic leader who has nukes.

This is why we took out Saddam. Got that hippie?

And this is why we should have dealt with North Korea a long time ago. The little pimple on our face that we didn't take care of before has just blown up into a nasty zit on prom night.

Trust me...I love peace just as much as anyone else and I'd love nothing more than to live in a gumdrop world where the concept of war was antiquated. But reality is there are people that want to kill us because we are American, and they will strike first if given the opportunity.

This is a fight for our very survival. And we have every right to defend ourselves.

Cindy Sheehan alone can provide enough fodder to keep this blog going for a loooong time. She recently appeared on MSNBC’s “Hardball”, and like any good granola crunching liberal, provided some less than factual information. Let’s examine.

According to Cindy- “Hunger strikes have proven to be effective tools in civil disobedience and changing policy.”

Wha…what? Really? Hmmm…okay. Give me one example where a hunger strike changed foreign policy. Just one. Go ahead…I’ll wait. I’ve got all day.

Perhaps most striking though was her statement that she would rather live under the rule of Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez rather than Dubya (this can be arranged Cindy). She states with a dreamy look in her eyes that the Venezuelan people “love him” and that he has been democratically elected eight times.

(Incidentally I’ll gladly start the “Send Cindy Sheehan to Venezuela” fund right now, right here. I’ve got five bucks. I’ll gladly send her for a one-way plane ticket out of this country. But I digress.)

For starters, the people do not “love him”, nor was he was not democratically elected eight times. Let’s look at history…Chavez first attempted to gain power in a failed military coup. Strike one Cindy. Then after he was democratically elected (so was Saddam Hussein, as interviewer Norah O’Donnell wisely points out), there were two attempts to remove him from office- first in another failed military coup in 2002, followed by a recall vote (which also failed) in 2004. Strike two and strike three. Does that sound like the work of a country that “loves” him?

Secondly, she also states that there is much support in congress for her position of withdrawing the troops immediately and bringing them all home before the end of the year…but notice during the interview when pressed, she struggles. She states there are critics, but struggles to name anyone specific who supports her position of immediate withdrawal, other than to say there are “many”.

What say you, United States Senate? In a sound beating, the Kerry amendment calling for the withdrawal of all troops within 13 months was rejected 86-13. Is this what Cindy considers “many”? Incidentally, Kerry voted in favor of the original Iraq war resolution in 2003 but was the one to pen the amendment to bring the troops home. Curious indeed.

Chin up Cindy…and please, don’t let those pesky things known as facts get in the way of a good argument, (which of course seems to be the credo of any good liberal).
I present to you the first in what I'm sure will become a regular feature on this blog, that which I call "The Stupefying of America".

Oh ebonics...how I do miss thee.

Of all the holidays, I think I enjoy the 4th of July the best. Fireworks, barbeque, warm weather, and no pressure.

Think about it. With every other holiday, there is some sort of pressure. Pressure to find the right gift, or having to cook for twenty people...that sort of thing. But with the 4th of July, you can just head up to the lake and enjoy the day without the usual stress that holidays can sometimes bring. Fireworks are fun as well.

Happy Birthday USA.

In other news...as I type this I'm getting ready to watch the launch of Discovery, but there is still some concern because of the crack that was found on the shuttle. What I want to know is how exactly Marion Barry got onto the shuttle in the first place, and if they have found the hooker that went with him as well.

(Those of you born after 1985 probably won't get that joke)

Political pundit James Carville likes Hillary Clinton's chances to win the White House in the 2008 presidential election.

I just have one thing to say on this-

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA OH MY HAHAHAHAHA SNORT HEEEEE HEEEEEE AWWWWHAHAH WHOOOO HAHAHAHA SNARF HOOOO

I haven't laughed that hard since my dog licked peanut butter off of the bottom of my foot. Thanks for the gut buster James.

"Truth, justice, and all that stuff."

Sound familiar? Maybe...if you've seen the new Superman movie. But something seems amiss.

Didn't Superman used to say "Truth, justice, and the American way"?

So what happened?

Political correctness, that is what happened. I wish I were kidding about this, but I am not. Superman's original catch phrase has been given the ax faster than Star Jones on "The View". The writers of the new Superman movie apparently felt that the American way "doesn't mean the same thing anymore." What a bunch of horsecrap.

So what is the American way? The American way is freedom and liberty. The American way is freedom from a tyrannical government. The American way is a society that strives for justice for all of its citizens, as well as opportunity. Has the American way really changed that much?

Apparnetly so, according to the writers of the new Superman movie. Hmmm...I disagree.

This is simply a cop-out. America is at war, and the trendy thing nowadays is to hate America. So the writers rewrote the phrase so as not to offend either the granola crunchers who hate Bush or those who see the film internationally.

But what about those of us who are offended by changing the phrase? My uncle fought in Vietnam to protect the "American way". Currently over 2,000 soldiers have given their lives in Iraq to protect the "American way". Yet that isn't good enough for these pansy film writers from the Hollywood Left who take the coward's way out and bow down because they think the phrase "American way" might offend someone.

You know what? I think I'll keep my $8.75 and spend it on something other than the new Superman movie. Because the American way also means freedom of choice. And in exercising my first amendment rights (another facet of the American way), I say to hell with the Hollywood Left.

Can someone please explain to me what in the hell the Supreme Court was thinking today?

In a 5-3 decision, the Supreme Court ruled that President Bush overstepped his bounds by appointing a military tribunal for the prisoners at Guantanamo Bay, essentially ruling that they cannot be tried by a military court.

I'm so glad to see we are worried about due process for these prisoners. After all, the 2,976 people who died on September 11, 2001 received their due process. Right?

I blame my high school government teacher for this. He failed to point out to me the clause in the U.S. Constitution that says we shall extend civil rights to foreign terrorists who want to cut our own heads off as we are still breathing and that the president shall not have the authority during wartime to declare a military tribunal for prisoners captured in war.

Am I in favor of suspending due process in this country? Of course not. However, the U.S. Constitution does not apply to those held in Gitmo. Military law applies, and what is even more distressing is the fact that the establishment of a military tribunal during wartime is not unprecedented.

Anybody ever hear of a guy named Franklin Roosevelt? Does World War II ring a bell with anyone? If the answer is yes, then apparently you are ahead of the curve...or at least , or at least ahead of the Supreme Court.

Today's decision is another victory for the terrorists. Handed down nonetheless by the very same people who are supposed to protect you and me from the terrorists.

Justice Thomas said it best in stating this was an "unprecedented and dangerous" intrusion and that it "flouts our well-established duty to respect the executive's judgment in matters of military operations and foreign affairs.''

Rest easy tonight Al Qaeda. The Supreme Court ruled on your side.
